Gov Kefas Match Words With Action, As Deputy, Commissioner Visits Nuj

The Government of Taraba State has expressed its readiness to upgrade the Oyekhire Press Center Jalingo to improve the efficiency of journalists practicing in the state. 

Governor Agbu Kefas has delegated the Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, and the Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the facilities at the press center.

During his visit, the Deputy Governor expressed dismay over the dilapidated state of facilities at the center and assured journalists that Governor Kefas would not leave the press center in such a condition.

Alhaji Alkali emphasized the governor’s high regard for journalists and their crucial roles in the development of the state. 

He pledged to communicate the journalists’ needs to the Governor and to ensure that the necessary upgrades are made to the center.

Following the Deputy Governor’s visit, the Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Barr Zainab Usman Jalingo, visited the press center and verified the breakdowns submitted by the journalists.

She emphasized Governor Kefas’s recognition of the journalists’ crucial role in his administration and his commitment to creating a comfortable environment for them to operate effectively.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Taraba State Council, Comrade Mathew Eliud Jen, expressed optimism that Governor Kefas, who he described as a media-friendly governor, would do even more than what the council had requested. 

He urged journalists in the state to project the good works that the governor had been doing in the state since his assumption of office.

The visits to the press center have resurrected the hopes of journalists in the state who have been eagerly awaiting the transformation of their press center. 

They are optimistic that Governor Kefas, who is gradually transforming the state in almost all sectors, will come to their aid and provide the necessary upgrades to the press center.

It’s important to recall that Governor Agbu Kefas had on the 7th of January, 2024 organized a New Year dinner for journalists in the state aimed at appreciating their role and strengthening the cordial relationship between the executive and the fourth estate of that realm.
