The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas has reaffirmed the usefulness of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme in the Nation.
Governor Kefas made this known through his representative, Dr. Jeji Williams, the Chief of Staff at Government House Jalingo when he presided over the opening ceremony of the orientation course for the 2024 Batch B Stream II Corps Members deployed to the State.
He said the scheme has greatly contributed to the promotion of National Unity, Integration, Inculcation of discipline, and the accelerated goal as well as the development of the country.
Speaking further at the occasion, Kefas commended the members for exhibiting a great measure of patriotism, zeal, and responsibility displayed throughout their stay in their various institutions of higher learning and the prompt acceptance of their Call-Up for National service.
The Governor explained that his administration’s “Moving Forward policy initiative has immensely created wealth, jobs, and opportunities, as well as improved the lives of the people of the state.
Similarly, he solicited the cooperation of the members of the camp to augment by playing a role in the following critical areas of Agriculture, Works, Technology, Environmental Sanitation, Clean Energy, and Tourism sectors of the state’s economy.
In an address of welcome, the Chairman of the state Governing Board, and Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Joseph Joshua implored the Corps Members to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing the scheme.
Represented by Mrs. Indo Markson who is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, equally went down memory lane to elaborate on the various tribes in Taraba state.
Earlier, the Coordinator of NYSC Taraba State, Mr. Ella Aji Williams expressed his sincere appreciation to the guests for coming to the event.
He equally entreated and tasked the corps members to make themselves available and get ready to participate in the respective camp activities.
Hon. Justice J.D. Yakubu, the representative of the Chief Judge of the state administered the Pledge and the Oath of Allegiance to the incoming corps members.
