Gov Fintiri Warns People Against Using Religion For Selfish Interest

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Thursday warned people to stop hiding under religion to achieve their selfish interest at the detriment of the society.

The Governor gave the warning when he hosted at his instance, operators of Private Colleges of Health, Science and Technology in the Government House, Yola.

The State Government has recently sealed off eight private colleges due to what it described their non compliance with laid down rules governing such schools.

Governor Fintiri told the visiting school operators that the action of the the government to sealing off t he colleges was not meant to whichunt them but to ensure quality control for the best interest of the state.

He expressed concern how some of the operators of these colleges have turned the issue into religious affair, calling on them to refrain as no religion condone unprofessionalism.

Governor Umaru Fintiri therefore set up a committee headed by professionals to scrutinize these colleges and report back to the government for further action.

He advocated for the operators of the private colleges to form clusters instead of operating individually and assured them that the government is ready to assist them where necessary.

In his remarks, leader of the delegation, Ahmed Usman disclosed that the colleges have obtained operational licences from the state government and other relevant bodies in the country.

He said the schools were established to complement the efforts of the government health colleges and they have met all the due requirements criteria in that regard for operation.
