Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged residents of Madagali and neighboring communities to remain vigilant in their daily activities, warning that the threat of insurgency still lingers in the area.
The Governor, who returned to his hometown in Gulak, Madagali Local Government Area, to celebrate Easter with his people, expressed concern over recent sporadic attacks in the northern fringes of the state.
Addressing district heads, community groups, and various organizations during a courtesy visit to his Gulak residence, Fintiri cautioned residents to avoid unnecessary movement into the hinterlands, citing recent ambushes by insurgents targeting innocent citizens.
He emphasized that the fight against insecurity requires collective efforts and urged traditional leaders and locals to support security agencies with timely information. He stressed that community vigilance is crucial, especially in areas lacking visible security presence.
Governor Fintiri also appealed to parents and caregivers to instill discipline in their children, encouraging them to embrace education and hard work. He revealed ongoing plans by his administration to create job opportunities aimed at youth empowerment and economic growth.
In a show of unity, the Governor called on the people to support and remain loyal to the Ptil Madagali, His Royal Highness Dr. Ali Danburam, to ensure effective leadership in the area.
Representatives of the visiting delegations expressed gratitude to the Governor for establishing the Madagali Chiefdom and for the numerous developmental projects in the area. They praised his bold leadership decisions and pledged their continued loyalty.
District heads commended him for improving their remuneration and reconnecting their communities through vital infrastructure such as bridges. Women leaders also lauded the Governor for including women in governance and acknowledged the contributions of his wife, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Umaru, to women empowerment across the state.
The groups further congratulated Governor Fintiri on his selection as Chairman of the upcoming PDP National Convention and offered prayers for his success.
