Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has announced plans to employ 12,000 youths into the state civil service by December 2025 as part of his administration’s commitment to job creation and inclusive governance.

The Governor made the announcement when he received the Adamawa State chapter of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) at the Government House in Yola.

He assured the women that his government remains committed to delivering policies and programmes that improve the quality of life for all citizens, particularly women and youth.

“As mothers, I want to assure you that this government under my leadership will continue to deliver policies that will make life better for the good people of Adamawa State,” Governor Fintiri said.

“When I decided to contest in 2019, I made it clear that women and youths would be central to our development agenda, and we have kept that promise.”

He disclosed that the recruitment drive will see 5,000 youths employed as teachers, while the Health Services Management Board will engage 2,000 health professionals, including doctors and nurses among others.

He said this is in addition to the ongoing recruitment of 5,000 civil servants, bringing the total to 12,000 new jobs.

“We are also working to establish a School of Technology and Entrepreneurship in the state to equip youths with practical skills for business and self-reliance,” he added.

Fintiri acknowledged the challenges facing the state but affirmed that his administration had overcome many of them through what he described as the “Fintiri magic” a phrase now associated with the state’s rapid transformation under his leadership.

“Even though we don’t have oil or gold, we have managed to put development on the table for every citizen. That’s the magic of prudent leadership,” he said. “We have turned Adamawa into one of the top five states in terms of progress.”

Speaking on the recent flooding that claimed lives and displaced communities, Governor Fintiri said his government is committed to removing all obstacles contributing to the disaster, including illegal structures on waterways.

“No one will stop me from taking decisions that will save lives,” he stated. “While the Fufore Dam is not the immediate cause of the flooding, as there’s no evidence of overflow, we won’t compromise on standards or accountability. We must ensure quality delivery from all contractors.”

On education, the Governor noted that students in Adamawa now attend improved schools and are excelling in internal examinations due to the administration’s commitment to reviving the education sector. “We will guarantee the future of our children by providing them with quality education,” he stressed.

He called on the Christian women leaders to continue supporting his administration with prayers and solidarity, emphasizing that fairness, equity, and security will remain his guiding principles.

In her remarks, the State Chairperson of WOWICAN, Mrs. Helen Jemes, commended the Governor for his developmental strides and inclusive policies. She expressed the association’s continued support for the administration and prayed for greater success in the years ahead.
