Ahead of the August 16, 2025 bye-election in the Ganye Constituency of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has called on the people of the area to rally behind the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Mohammed Buba Joda.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the constituency seat vacant following the passing of the former representative.
Addressing a large gathering of supporters during the PDP campaign flag-off on Saturday, Governor Fintiri emphasized the importance of electing a credible candidate like Barrister Joda to ensure effective and quality representation in the State Assembly.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to all parts of the state, urging the electorate to give their bloc votes to the PDP for the continued development and progress of Ganye and its environs.
He cautioned the people against voting based on religious or ethnic sentiments, stating that such divisions hinder societal growth. “No society can develop when decisions are driven by religious or ethnic considerations,” Fintiri stated, urging unity and collective support for the PDP candidate.
Also speaking at the rally, the PDP State Chairman, Barrister Tahir Shehu, urged residents of Ganye Local Government Area to cast their votes for Barrister Joda. He affirmed that Governor Fintiri is committed to bringing more development to the constituency.
In his remarks, the PDP flag bearer, Barrister Mohammed Buba Joda, expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to contest under its platform. He pledged to serve the people of Ganye with dedication and integrity if elected.
Highlights of the campaign event included the reception of decampees from opposition political parties into the PDP, as well as cultural dance performances celebrating the party’s growing popularity in the constituency.
Governor Umaru Fintiri, upon his arrival in Ganye, has paid a homage to Gangwari Ganye, Alh. Umaru Adamu Sanda.
