Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, in a colorful ceremony held in Hong Local Government Area, presented the staff of office to the newly appointed First Tol Huba, Barrister Alheri Bulus Nyako.

Speaking at the event, Governor Fintiri charged the new Tol Huba to see himself as a leader for all, urging him to ensure inclusivity and fairness in his reign.

The governor, who recalled his background as a history student at the university, emphasized that the creation of chiefdoms and emirates was aimed at correcting historical injustices of the past.

He noted that Huba Chiefdom was once an autonomous entity before colonial administrators downgraded it to a district under central administration. He declared that Barrister Alheri Bulus Nyako is the first king of the Huba Kingdom, following years of efforts to regain its status.

Governor Fintiri further stated that his administration remains modest and deliberate in resisting the temptation to take undue credit for the achievement. He urged the people of Hong to celebrate responsibly while recognizing the will of God in their success.

Explaining the rationale behind the establishment of chiefdoms and emirates, the governor stated that the move was aimed at strengthening governance at the grassroots level, fostering greater unity among citizens, and creating more rallying points to bind communities across Adamawa State.

The governor congratulated Tol Huba on leading a great people and tasked him with mobilizing his subjects for the development of the fourteen districts under his domain.

In his acceptance speech, Tol Huba Alheri Bulus Nyako acknowledged the struggles spanning over a century that led to this historic moment. He assured his people of fairness, justice, transparency, and accountability in governance, pledging to promote unity, peace, and security in alignment with the aspirations of the Huba Chiefdom.

As a mark of appreciation, Tol Huba Nyako conferred the title of Midala of Huba Chiefdom on Governor Fintiri in recognition of his contributions.

The Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, represented by the Wali Adamawa, Alhaji Abdulkadir Aminu Mbamba, congratulated Governor Fintiri and his administration for their transformative projects in Adamawa State.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of the new Tol Huba to meet the expectations of the Huba people.

Earlier, notable dignitaries, including elder statesman retired General Halladu Hananiya, Hong Local Government Chairman Inuwa Usman Wa’ganda, and Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly Bathiya Wesley, commended Governor Fintiri for his commitment to justice and equity, describing the event as a victory for the Huba Nation.

The event also featured the official oath-taking ceremony, presided over by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, and attended by dignitaries from within and outside the state.
