Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to sustainable development and economic growth with the commissioning of the first-ever Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility in northeastern Nigeria, located along Numan Road in Yola, Adamawa State.

Speaking through his Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, at the commissioning ceremony performed by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo, Governor Fintiri described the project as a major milestone aligned with his administration’s agenda to boost business, enhance transportation, and strengthen industrial productivity through access to affordable and clean energy.

The governor praised Greenville LNG for its strategic investment and foresight in establishing the CNG refueling station and conversion centre, noting that the project marks a significant step towards energy sustainability, environmental responsibility, and economic diversification.

He emphasized that the facility is more than a business investment, saying it represents a strategic partnership that is expected to create employment, reduce transportation costs, and position Adamawa as a hub for clean energy in Nigeria.

Governor Fintiri also highlighted how the initiative would support the state government’s investments in road infrastructure, flyovers, bridges, and public transport systems by providing cost-effective fuel alternatives.

Appreciating the Federal Government and Greenville LNG, the Governor reiterated his readiness to deepen collaborations with both public and private sector partners to drive inclusive development across the state.

In his remarks, Minister Ekperikpe Ekpo said the commissioning of the CNG plant underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to leveraging gas as a catalyst for economic transformation, national energy security, and industrial development.

The Minister lauded the facility as a symbol of opportunity and progress, reflecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to maximize Nigeria’s vast gas resources for sustainable national growth.

He further applauded Greenville for their role in expanding access to clean and affordable energy solutions, especially at a time when rising fuel costs and environmental concerns call for urgent energy alternatives.

With CNG now emerging as a reliable and eco-friendly energy option, the project is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions and promote efficient fuel use across transportation and industrial sectors in Adamawa and beyond.

Earlier, the Adamawa state Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar has welcomed the Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, PhD, at the Lamido Aliyu Mustapha International Airport Yola on Tuesday afternoon.
