Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has flagged off the reconstruction of the 24.1-kilometre Mubi–Maiha Road, valued at N14.98 billion, reiterating his administration’s commitment to inclusive development under the philosophy of “no one is left behind and nothing is left untouched.”
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony in Mubi on Friday, Governor Fintiri described the project as a major national and international road linking Nigeria to Cameroon, noting that it has long been a source of hardship for commuters and residents in the area.
He said the reconstruction of the road, awarded to M/s Triacta Nigeria Limited at a total cost of N14,986,896,167.25, will not only ease transportation difficulties but also enhance trade, economic growth, and diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Cameroon.
“As a responsible government, we cannot continue to see our citizens suffer on this road simply because it is a federal project,” the Governor said. “In Adamawa, we have developed a culture of intervention to alleviate our people’s suffering. Never again shall our people be left to suffer because some projects are meant to be handled by others.”
Governor Fintiri emphasized that the Mubi–Maiha project reflects his administration’s deliberate commitment to comprehensive service delivery across sectors, from infrastructure and education to healthcare, food security, and youth empowerment.
He reaffirmed that the state government would continue to intervene in critical infrastructure projects, regardless of whether they fall under federal or state jurisdiction, so long as resources permit.
To the people of Mubi and Maiha, the Governor assured that their long years of suffering on the road were over, noting that the project is expected to be completed within 15 months and will link with the already completed Maiha–Pella Road.
“We are matching courage with vision,” Fintiri declared. “By the grace of God, I will return here in the next 15 months to commission this road to the glory of God and the benefit of humanity.”
He charged the contractors to deliver quality work within schedule, maintaining that his administration does not embark on projects to abandon them.
The Mubi–Maiha Road reconstruction, according to the Governor, forms part of his broader agenda to modernize urban centers, open up rural communities, and build a prosperous and inclusive Adamawa State.
Delivering his speech, the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Adamu Atiku, praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his outstanding leadership and commitment to infrastructure development in Adamawa State.
He described the governor as the architect of modern Adamawa, saying the present administration has set a new standard for good governance through people-centered development.
The Commissioner added that the Ministry of Works and Energy Development has been working tirelessly on major projects, including roads, bridges, drainages, culverts, and flyovers the first of their kind in the history of the state.
Adamu Atiku explained that the Mubi Maiha Road, awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited at a total cost of 14.98 billion, will be completed within 15 months, though he assured that work will be finished ahead of schedule.
He called on residents of the affected communities to cooperate with the contractors to ensure smooth and timely completion of the projects for the benefit of all.
In his remarks, the representative of the contractor, Engineer Wajib, assured that the Triactor Company will deliver the Mubi Maiha road project on time and to high standards.
He said the project represents more than just a road on the map but a vision for better connections, safer travel, and stronger communities. Pledging that the company will ensure quality work that reflects the progress and development of Adamawa State.
Some community leaders gave goodwill messages, thanking Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for flagging off the road construction project, which they described as a long-awaited development that will greatly benefit the people and improve transportation and economic activities in the area.
