The Adamawa State Zawiyyatu Dariqatit Tijjaniyyah Foundation of Nigeria on Sunday launched an appeal fund for the construction of an Islamic Centre in Girei Local Government Area.
According to the Foundation, the proposed Islamic Centre will serve as a hub for Islamic teaching and learning. The organization also used the occasion to inaugurate its new executive members in the state.
Speaking at the event held at Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri welcomed the initiative, describing it as a step towards promoting discipline and moral values.
The governor, who was represented by a delegation led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and accompanied by the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji, emphasized the importance of upholding religious principles.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting religious organizations across the state, adding that the government remains dedicated to improving education and the overall well-being of its citizens.
The event drew participants from neighboring states, including Borno and Gombe among others.
