The New Year Mega Lottery Nationwide League One 2024 season kicked off at the Pantami Stadium Gombe Centre last Saturday.
10 clubs are drawn into group A and B will trade tackles in the savannah.
In his remarks, the General Coordinator of the centre, Bright Nwanosike had tutored the clubs on the dos and don’ts of the league.
He further cautioned that clubs that have failed to fulfill their obligations to the league would not be allowed to be on parade.
NLO Correspondent reports that 12 clubs were expected to compete at the centre , however, at the traditional pre-match meeting session, T.Y Buratai from Damaturu, Yobe State, and Kwajaffa FC from Borno did not show up.
The clubs set to do battle at the centre include Flash Flamingoes (Gombe), Zaki Mairiga (Gombe), Beretta FC (Gombe), Super Pillars (Gombe), Gombe Warriors (Gombe), and Bare United (Billiri) amongst others.
On Match Day 1, Makwads FC defeated El-Shamah 3-1, as Septagons FC recorded a 2-1 victory over Kadafur.
Our correspondent further reports that teeming football fans from the city centre and its environs thronged to the stadium to cheer their favorite club sides.
This season’s matches at the Gombe Centre are expected to end on the 3rd of May 2024.
However, despite the smooth running of activities at the centre, NLO officials had to battle with the mix-up of the team list.
