The Tashalla Care Foundation in Bauchi State has planted 3,000 trees along Muhammadu Buhari Road bypass in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State as part of its 2025 annual tree-planting campaign.
The event is aimed at tackling deforestation, climate change, and promoting environmental sustainability.
Speaking at the flag-off on Sunday, the foundation’s Chairman, Malam Usman Ya’u, announced that the initiative was now in its fourth year.
According to him, it goes beyond tree planting, as it also includes providing boreholes, water tanks, and pumps, alongside ensuring security for the trees to guarantee their survival.
“This year, we are planting 3,000 trees along the bypass.
“We urge community members to take ownership of these trees, as their care is crucial to achieving the desired environmental impact,” Ya’u said.
He emphasised that the trees would serve as windbreakers, improve air quality, and mitigate the effects of climate change in the area.
The chairman called for collective responsibility in protecting the environment for future generations.

On his part, Islamic cleric Malam Abubakar Garba described tree planting as a virtuous act in Islam.
He cited the Prophet Muhammad’s teaching that planting trees serves as ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), benefiting both the planter and the community.
