Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has charged traditional rulers to foster peaceful coexistence at their various domains in the state.
He gave the charge when he granted audience to First Class Emirs and Chiefs who were in the Government House, Yola to congratulate him over his victory at the Supreme Court.
The Appex Court had on Tuesday last week upheld the 2023 election of Governor Fintiri in a suit filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Hajiya Aishatu Dahiru Binani.
Fintiri who expressed delight with the visit by the traditional rulers, asked them to promote peace and unity, assuring that government will continue to support security agents and vigilante.
He peached for forgiveness in the aftermath of 2023 elections, saying that the Supreme Court judgement was indeed a victory for Adamawa people who overwhelmingly supported his reelection.
As custodians of culture and tradition, Governor Fintiri urged the first class Emirs and Chiefs to support programmes and policies of government and enlighten their subjects in that regard.
He reasssured his continued commitment to be fair to all people and bring in development to nooks and crannies of state, calling for all hands to be deck to make Adamawa develop.
Emir of Mubi, Alh Abubakar Isa Ahmadu who led the delegation on behalf of Lamido Adamawa Dr Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa noted with happiness the Governor’s victory at Apex Court.
He prayed to Allah to guide Governor Fintiri so that Adamawa will become a sample for other states to emulate, assuring him their unflinching support and loyalty.
