Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has received the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, on a condolence visit to the government and people of the state over the recent flood disaster that claimed 29 lives, submerged farmlands, and destroyed houses.
Farauta thanked the minister and his entourage for identifying with the people she described as his “family members.” She commended the resilience of the people in the face of the devastating flood and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing relief support to affected persons to alleviate their suffering.
She noted that the impact of the disaster was mitigated through the cooperation of stakeholders, adding that the state government would remain proactive in providing humanitarian interventions.
Earlier, the minister, who hails from Adamawa, personally handed over a condolence letter on behalf of the management and staff of his ministry. He also commended the state government for its proactive measures in tackling the flood disaster.
Maiha urged governments at all levels to develop lasting remedies to end the perennial flooding that occurs annually. He assured the people of the ministry’s solidarity during this period of grief and presented relief materials to victims.
He explained that the visit was to comfort the people and demonstrate the spirit of being one another’s keeper.
“Your Excellency, we pray to the Almighty, by His infinite mercy, to repose the souls of the departed, heal the injured, and restore the property and livelihoods of those affected,” he said.
