Ex-Bauchi Gov Mohammed Abubakar Turbaned As Makama Babban Bauchi

The former governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has been turbaned with the traditional title of Makama Babba of Bauchi emirate.

The ceremony which took place at the Bauchi Emir’s Palace on Friday marked the official confirmation of the titled after years of appointment.

Punch gathered that the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shattima served as the special guest at the occasion which brought other high profile politicians.

Speaking at the event, the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed appreciated the Vice President, Kashim Shattima for gracing the occasion.

He stated “On behalf of the people and government of Bauchi State. And on behalf of the celebrant, your excellency, we want to thank you more sincerely.

“We have seen that, you have chosen to come here and even set aside some of the other engagements that you have to come to Bauchi.

“You have always done that, you have made this occasion, very, very important. Because your coming here has made my elder brother the real Makama Babba of Bauchi.”

Bala Mohammed equally acknowledged the leadership style of the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Sulaimanu.

According to him, “Your royal highness we thank you most sincerely for giving one of our own a former governor this auspicious position.

“Definitely he deserves it. He is eminently qualified to the position that he is given.”

He congratulated the former governor, Mohammed Abubakar for the occasion.

Our correspondent reports that several high profile individuals attended the event including, Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shattima, governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, Emir of Akko, Gombe State, Umar Muhammed Atiku and the deputy governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana to represent governor Mai Mala Buni.

Others are Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, Minister of foreign affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, former governor of Bauchi State and former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP Ahmad Mu’azu among others.
