The Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, declared his support for effective cooperation and coordination of environmental matters between his Ministry and the Taraba State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
This announcement was made during a courtesy call by Hon. Aishat A. Barde, the Taraba State Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, who visited the Minister’s office in Abuja.
Hon. Aishat Barde’s visit was a sign of respect and responsibility towards the Minister.
She emphasized the need for collaboration between the two ministries in areas such as capacity building, data sharing and research, policy alignment, networking, as well as project implementation.
In response, the Minister expressed his appreciation for her visit and stated that her appointment was an achievement for the entire staff and management of the Federal Ministry of Environment.
He also highlighted that her appointment was a testament to environmental stewardship and a demonstration of the government’s commitment towards alignment with the International Treaty on Climate Change – the Paris Agreement.
The proposed collaborative efforts between the Federal Ministry of Environment and the Taraba State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change will facilitate effective cooperation and coordination of environmental matters between the two sister Ministries.
The Minister’s support towards this collaboration is a demonstration of the government’s commitment towards environmental stewardship and alignment with international treaties such as the Paris Agreement.
