The National Chairman of the Council of Preachers (Ulama) of Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’a Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Dr. Jalo Jalingo, has raised alarm over the deteriorating condition of roads in Taraba State, describing the situation as alarming and in urgent need of federal attention.
In a statement made available to SAHEL REPORTERS, Dr. Jalingo lamented that almost all federal roads in the state have collapsed, while the state government has not constructed or maintained any standard highway of its own.
He warned that Jalingo, the state capital, is now almost inaccessible from both the western and southern parts due to the deplorable condition of the roads.
The cleric, therefore, appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately declare a state of emergency on road rehabilitation in Taraba State, stressing that the lives and economic activities of residents are being threatened by the worsening situation.
