Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, CFR, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a monumental national loss.

Dogara, in a condolence message made available to newsmen on Sunday in Bauci , said he received the news of Buhari’s passing with great shock,

He added that the late leader was a true patriot and nationalist who dedicated his entire life to the unity and progress of Nigeria.

“He fought in the civil war to preserve the unity of the country as a military officer and later served as Head of State.

“When I was elected Speaker in June 2015, shortly after his inauguration as President, even though it was not an outcome he had anticipated,

“He nonetheless accepted it with maturity and worked with us as a father and leader,” Dogara stated.

The former Speaker noted that Nigeria has lost a statesman whose wisdom and experience were still needed to navigate the country’s present challenges.

He acknowledged that although the loss is painful, Nigerians must submit to the will of God, the giver and taker of life.

Dogara prayed for God to grant Hajiya Aisha Buhari, the children, and the entire family the strength to bear the loss and for Allah to forgive the late president’s shortcomings.
