Dangote Cement Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to housing development by sponsoring the 19th edition of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS), which opens Monday at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. The high-profile event is expected to host participants from 21 countries across the continent.
In a statement issued by the company’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, Dangote Cement confirmed that beyond sponsorship, it is also actively participating in the event to showcase its innovative building solutions.
Chiejina noted that AIHS, which brings together more than 40,000 participants—including industry leaders, government representatives, and investors—offers a unique opportunity for the cement giant to engage directly with key stakeholders in the housing sector.
“As the Housing Show draws thousands of high-level participants, Dangote Cement Plc will use the platform to demonstrate its product offerings and cement its position as a leader in building innovation across Africa,” the statement read.
The company, which has consistently supported the AIHS in previous editions, said it remains committed to working with stakeholders to enhance affordable housing delivery on the continent.
This year’s theme, “Reimagining Housing Through Innovation,” aligns with Dangote Cement’s core values of quality, sustainability, and forward-thinking solutions, the company added.
AIHS Coordinator, Barrister Festus Adebayo, told journalists that addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit will require strong Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). He emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration, especially in construction technology, financing, and delivery systems.
He expressed optimism that the partnership with Dangote Cement Plc will further efforts to close Nigeria’s housing gap. “Over 82% of attendees are decision-makers, giving exhibitors direct access to individuals with purchasing power,” he said.
It will be recalled that the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) and other housing sector stakeholders have consistently recognized Dangote Cement as a key contributor to real estate and housing development in Nigeria.
