Dangote Applauds Tinubu’s Overhaul Of Oil, Gas Sector, Hails New NNPC Leadership Team

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating transformative reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating transformative reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

He specifically lauded the President’s choice of leadership at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), highlighting the appointments of Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari as Group Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Ahmadu Musa Kida as Non-Executive Chairman.

Dangote stated that his recent visit to President Tinubu was to commend the administration for assembling a highly skilled and competent team to steer the NNPCL.

He described the newly appointed leaders as experienced professionals whose technical and managerial acumen is vital to revitalising Nigeria’s most critical public enterprise.

According to Dangote, the appointment of Ojulari and Kida reflects President Tinubu’s clear strategic vision to reform and innovate across the energy sector.

He expressed confidence that the team would effectively confront systemic challenges, contribute to the President’s ambition of building a $1 trillion economy, and reposition NNPCL for greater operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.

Addressing recent media questions regarding his earlier remarks about battling forces threatening the survival of his $20 billion refinery, Dangote clarified that his concerns were not directed at the new leadership of NNPCL.

Instead, he pointed to certain entrenched interests—particularly major oil marketers and traders—whom he accused of working to undermine President Tinubu’s economic recovery agenda.

He emphasized that the new NNPCL leadership has so far demonstrated strong support for the Dangote Group’s initiatives and broader industry needs.

He also praised the recent reforms introduced by NNPCL, noting that they underscore the organization’s renewed focus on transparency, accountability, and efficiency.

Dangote concluded with optimism, expressing his belief that the current leadership at NNPCL will elevate Nigeria’s energy sector to new heights.

He reiterated his commitment to partnering with the government in achieving a secure, prosperous energy future for the nation.
