As part of its commitment to greening the country to be climate-smart and addressing desertification, the National Agency for the Great Green Wall Bauchi State office has organized a 3-day capacity-building training for youth and women.
The program which focused on non-timber forest products, aims to equip small-scale farmers, particularly women and youth, with innovative methods to promote self-reliance and address unemployment.
According to the Bauchi State Field Officer, Hadiza Muhammad, “The training will enable participants to harness the potential of non-timber forest products, discouraging deforestation and promoting sustainable land management.
“The participants were selected from five local government areas of the state, including Dass, Katagum, Itas-Gadau, and Jama’are.”
She stated that the participants are poised to become ambassadors of environmental stewardship.
On his part, a representative from the National Headquarters of the Agency for the Great Green Wall, Jibrin Umar Tijjani, urged participants to seize the opportunity, emphasizing that the world has made tremendous progress in technology development.
Speaking to journalists at the sideline of the training, participants from Dass and Jama’are, Hadiza Ayuba Dass, and Dan’azumi Abdullahi expressed gratitude for the training, promising to utilize their newfound knowledge to enhance their economic status.
