Christmas Festive: VGN Taraba State Command Deploys 10,000 Personnel To 16 LGAs

The vigilante group of Nigeria (VGN), Taraba State Command, has deployed Ten thousand of its men to maintain law and order across the State during the Christmas and New Year festive celebrations.

This is contained in a statement signed by ACV Suleiman Aliyu, Vigilante Public Relations Officer (VPRO), Taraba State, and issued to Newsmen on Sunday, 22-12-2024. 

The statement says that the Command through the State Commandant Bello Arabi, has a ratio of 3,000 men to take guard and watch over the Churches within Jalingo Metropolis, the state capital, while 2000 are for general Surveillance within the city.

Meanwhile, the remaining 5,000 are also ratio out across other fifteen Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state for onward duty.

It explained that the State Commandant ordered that Local Government Commandants across the State adhere to this development with immediate effect and ensure that the VGN men take charge in their respective LGAs.

Additionally,  the statement noted that this decisive action is taken to curtail any ugly situation and unrest that may arise during the festive period celebration.

As the saying goes; “a stitch on time, save nine”.
Experiences and reports gathered over time showed that, in periods like this, some people take advantage of others by exhibiting some unsocial vices, extorting, tormenting, injuring or even doing worse to them, leaving them with pain.

“As such, men of the VGN and other security agencies will help to maintain law and order in safeguarding the lives and property of the populace, thereby ensuring a peaceful celebration.” The statement concluded.

Similarly, the Deputy Commandant of Operations of the VGN in the state DC Munir Abubakar in a telephone interview, reaffirmed their commitment to abide by the Commandant’s directives to ensure a huge free Christmas and New Year celebrations across Taraba State.

He also praised members of the VGN for their commitment and resilience in sacrificing their lives to protect others and encouraged them not to relent, urging the state government to redouble its efforts in supporting the group.
