Mr. Ishaya Durkwa, Chief Executive Officer of the International Organization for Peacebuilding and Social Justice, felicitates with citizens on this year’s Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations.

Durkwa made this known in a statement made available to Sahel Reporters on Monday. “At 64, Nigeria remains a paradox—a nation rich in natural resources and human potential, yet plagued by unnecessary suffering.

“Despite our abundance, too many Nigerians continue to live in hardship. This reality forces us to reflect deeply on our journey as a nation and calls for a renewed commitment to building a better future.

“Though the challenges we face are undeniable, there is also cause for hope. Nigeria is on the cusp of transformation. From today’s difficulties, a new Nigeria is emerging—one that will rise from the ashes of adversity, stronger, more united, and more just.

“We have come a long way. Our history is marked by resilience and triumph over hardship, and we have conquered many obstacles. We’ve come too far to lose hope now. The responsibility rests on all of us to realize the promise of Nigeria’s greatness.”

Mr Durkwa urges the nation leaders to act decisively and with vision, placing the welfare of the people at the center of governance.

According to him, it is time for more people-centered policies and programs that will uplift the common man and address the unnecessary struggles faced by millions of Nigerians. “Our vast resources must be harnessed for the benefit of all.”

“To my fellow Nigerians, especially the youth, this is a call to action. Now is the time for each of us to play an active role in shaping the future of our nation. We must participate, engage, and commit to rebuilding the Nigeria we all deserve.”

He called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the nation and encourage leaders particularly those making meaningful efforts for the people. “Let us unite in hope for a better tomorrow.”

He said through unity and collective effort, Nigerians can overcome this paradox of suffering and restore the greatness of the country.
