BSPHCDA Launches Mama-2-Mama Support Group In Bauchi LGA To Boost Healthcare Service Delivery

Bauchi Local Government Council has pledged it commitment to give necessary support to Mama-2-Mama volunteers agents in other to discharge their duties effectively and improve health care system.

The program which was organized by the state primary health care development agency BSPHCDA was aimed at improving access to quality health care services by pregnant woman, reducing maternal mortality, as well as helping the state government to boost the health care sector.

The Chairperson Bauchi LGA Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko made the ascertion during the Launching of Mama-2-Mama support groups held at the Council conference Hall in Bauchi.

Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko said the Mama-2-Mama agents will go round house to house to sensitive women on the importance of going for anti-natal during early month of pregnancy, ensuring that children are fully immunize, hand washing, personal hygiene among others.

She added that the project will be conducted across the 20 local governments of the state by the LGA gender equality champion, calling on people to give necessary support and cooperation in other to discharge their duties.

In his address, the director Primary Health Care Bauchi local Government Alh Sulaiman Audu Kirfi describe the program as timely, which according to him will help in addressing maternal mortality in the state.

In their separate remarks, the Gender Focal Person Bauchi PHC Amina Balali and UNICEF representative Bauchi LGA Malam Haladu Sabo Pledges theri total support to the program, while calling on the volunteers to be patient through out the discharge of their duties.
