The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has won the Presidential election conducted in Taraba State.
Announcing the results, the returning officer who is also the Vice Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Prof. Muhammed Ahmed Abdul’aziz said the PDP polled 189, 017 votes.
The Labour Party became second with 146, 315, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 135, 165 votes, while the NNPP got 12, 818 votes.

Prof. Muhammed Ahmed Abdul’aziz described the election as peaceful, free, fair, and credible.
He attributed the delay in announcing the results to the distance of some local government areas of the state as well as the terrain.
Commenting on the exercise, Taraba State INEC Resident Commissioner, Umar Muktar Gajram described it as successful and promised to improve in identified areas where some lapses were recorded.

Gajiram also reassured the people of the state of the commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and transparent elections across the state.

Dr. Esther Aloko who is an agent of the Labour Party described the election as free, and fair, while she called on INEC to ensure that nobody is disenfranchised by providing enough functional BVAS to the nooks and crannies of the state during the Governorship and state house of assembly election come 11th March 2023.
