In his extraordinary way of installing succor in this sacred month of Ramadan, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman through his Nabalago Foundation has distributed Ramadan packages to the people of Ningi.
The beneficiaries of this impactful initiative were mainly women drawn from 11 wards that made up his Ningi Central Constituency, the aim was to nutritionalised one thousand women in communities for them to have sense of belonging in the society.
In a statement signed Mukhtar Garba Kobi the
Spokesperson of the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, the Speaker said that women are the less prioritised group of people when it comes to giving relief packages, that was why the today’s program solely focused on them. The Speaker pleaded on other women to be patient as plans are on the way to cover them.
He further highlighted that five hundred (500) persons in Ningi are being fed with Iftar foods across mosques on daily basis.
However, the Ramadan feeding program this year targets fifteen thousand (15,000) people higher than the ten thousand (10,000) beneficiaries of last year.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman of Ningi, Hon. Salisu Zakarai and Women Leader of People Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi, Hajiya Hauwa Fulani lauded the Speaker for his tireless efforts and always coming up with initiatives that have direct impacts on the lives of his people.
They thanked Hajiya Abi Hafsat AYS for the care, concern and support to her husband, they also called on people to be commending wonderful works of leaders at different levels; noting that such would encourage them to expand their reach for more to be carried along.
Meanwhile, low income earners that often find it hard to have three square meals are the beneficiaries of the packages, they were identified through rigorous screening.
Furthermore, some of the food items distributed today include rice, macaroni, sugar, cooking oil as well as noodles. Interesting part of the event was that, every woman that was given the food package also went home with a monetary gift of five thousand (5,000) naira, this was to help them and their families perform Ramadan fasting in wealth and abundance.
