Bauchi Speaker Cautions BAROTA Officers Against Unethical Practices

The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Abubakar Y. Suleiman has on Saturday charged the newly inaugurated officers of the Bauchi State Road Traffic Agency (BAROTA) to be committed to duty.

The Bauchi state Governor Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir has recruited 500 BAROTA officers primarily to ensure safety and management on roads in the State and all Local Government Areas.

In a statement by Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the Spokesperson of the Speaker Bauchi State House of Assembly, the Speaker explained that with the emergence of these gallant officers, there would be easy flow of vehicles, obedience to road regulations while putting an end to accident which inflict injuries or sometimes death.

The Speaker advised the officers to always report to duty posts on time, perform their tasks and never collect bribe from any violator of the stipulated road rules and regulations.

“As officers employed to maintain orderliness on Bauchi roads, prioritize your duties and never allow road violators to go scot-free. Ensure that whoever defy through overspeeding, overloading, recklessly driving, drinking while driving face the full wrath of the law”.

“Bear in minds that your actions or inactions will be accounted for in the hereafter, so be frank and do your duties effectively”. The Speaker advised.

Abubakar reminded them that using the opportunity to extort people would not be welcomed, all road users are equal in the eyes of the law.

The Speaker emphasised on the need for BAROTA officers to collaborate with other road agencies while discharging their cardinal responsibilities of orderliness on roads.

The statement reiterated that BAROTA has pivotal role to play by promoting road safety, he then enjoined the general public to cooperate by becoming partners in progress to the officers within or outside the city.
