The Bauchi State Government in collaboration with African Medical Centre of Excellence AMCE has launched a two-day free medical outreach targeting 1,000 people aimed at improving access to healthcare services and strengthening the health system as part of pre-summit activities leading up to the Bauchi State Economic Summit.
The outreach, which commenced on Monday at Liman Katagum Primary School in Bauchi, is designed to offer a range of free medical services including antenatal care, child immunization, general consultations, laboratory investigations, and pharmaceutical services. Also Surgical interventions for identified cases are scheduled for the second day of the programme.
While declaring the outreach open, Deputy Governor Bauchi State Muhammad Auwal Jatau, who was represented by the Emir of Dass Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, described the initiative as a demonstration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s commitment to the health and well-being of citizens.

He explained that the outreach reflects the governor’s vision of building a healthier Bauchi where every citizen has access to quality healthcare services regardless of location, gender, or income.

who was represented by the
Managing Director of the Drug and Medical Consumables Management Agency (DMMA), Pharmacist Abdulkadir Ahmed, said the exercise also aims to attract investment into the state’s health sector, adding that the outreach will serve as a platform to identify and treat conditions requiring surgical attention.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad said the outreach, being the first event ahead of the investment summit, is targeted at improving the lives of women and children, which according to him free immunization against diseases such as polio and measles is being provided as part of the exercise.
The Chief Medical Director of the Specialist Hospital Bauchi, Dr. Abdulkarim Mairiga, emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and regular hospital visits, while pledged his continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to safeguard the health of residents.
Speaking on behalf of the benefitting communities, thethe District Head of Zungur, Surveyor Saidu Ibrahim and the District Head of Bauchi, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba described the gesture as a significant step toward addressing health challenges in the state.

They therefore thanked the government for selecting the district as a beneficiary and urged residents to make full use of the opportunity.
The outreach is part of a broader effort by the Bauchi State Government to strengthen the health sector through investments in infrastructure, equipment, and personnel, while promoting equitable access to healthcare across the state.
