BASIEC Assures Free And Fair LG Polls In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free and fair Local Government elections, scheduled for August 17, 2024.

The Chairman of the commission Alh Ahmad Makama made this assurance during a press briefing at the Commission’s headquarters, emphasizing BASIEC’s dedication to upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.

Makama highlighted the Commission’s comprehensive preparations, including voter registration and verification exercises, distribution of electoral materials, training of ad-hoc staff and security personnel, and establishment of electoral committees.

He assured that robust security measures are in place to ensure a secure environment for voters, electoral officials, and materials, acknowledging the collaboration with security agencies to prevent any form of violence or disruption.

The Chairman appealed to eligible voters to exercise their franchise en masse, stressing the significance of their participation in shaping the future of local governance. He emphasized that every vote counts and encouraged citizens to make their voices heard.
