The Bala Wunti Movement has reaffirmed that Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti, former Upstream Investment Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), will contest the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a press briefing, the State Coordinator of the movement, Rt. Hon. Yahaya Muhammad Miya (Kachallan Bauchi), dismissed social media rumours suggesting that Dr. Wunti had withdrawn from the race.

He described the reports as an attempt by political opponents to undermine the growing popularity of the aspirant.

Miya clarified that the APC has not yet released official guidelines or deadlines for aspirants to declare interest in elective positions, stressing that there is “no going back” on Dr. Wunti’s ambition.

“Let me assure you and the general public that, Insha Allah, Dr. Bala is going to contest the seat of Governor of Bauchi State come 2027 under the auspices of the APC,” Miya stated.

He expressed gratitude to supporters across the state for their patience and continued mobilisation, assuring them that their efforts and prayers “will not be in vain.” Miya also urged them to maintain peace and harmony with other party members regardless of internal alignments.

Miya commended the media for their “balanced and responsible reportage,” urging them to continue upholding professional standards.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Muhammadu Maijama’a Wunti, an elder in the family, also debunked claims that Dr. Bala had taken another appointment, stressing that he remains committed to his governorship ambition.

He assured that, Dr. Bala would soon formally declare his intention and appealed to supporters to remain calm and steadfast.
