Former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, has commended the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for appointing young Nigerians into its National Working Committee, describing it as a bold step toward meaningful youth inclusion in politics.

In a congratulatory message shared on Friday, Atiku hailed the appointments of Bilyaminu Duhu (Assistant National Youth Leader, North East), Jackie Wayas (Deputy National Publicity Secretary), Hassana Dada (Assistant National Youth Leader, North Central), David Itopa (Deputy National Welfare Secretary), Hauwa Yusuf (Deputy National Secretary), and other vibrant youths into the ADC’s top leadership structure.

Atiku said the development signals a shift from mere rhetoric to concrete action, noting that the ADC has set a commendable example in involving the younger generation in governance and decision-making processes.

“The ADC is no longer just speaking about youth inclusion; it is now boldly demonstrating it in action,” Atiku stated. “Indeed, the future of our youth must not be shaped in their absence, and I commend the ADC for setting a powerful example by giving them a seat at the table where decisions are made.”

He added that such leadership reflects a deeper commitment to inclusive governance, stressing that real progress comes not only from preaching change but also from acting decisively to bring it about.

“This is what true leadership looks like—not just talking the talk, but walking it with purpose,” Atiku concluded.

The appointments have been widely celebrated as a turning point for youth participation in Nigerian politics, reinforcing growing calls for generational power-sharing and innovation in party leadership.
