To support low-income farmers and promote agricultural development, the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), Dr. Umar Babayi, has distributed essential farm inputs to farmers in his hometown, Gombi Local Government Area.

The items, which included 100 bags of 10kg improved seed varieties and 100 sachets of herbicides, were distributed to farmers at the palace of the District Head of Guyaku in Gombi LGA on Saturday.

According to Dr. Babayi, the intervention aims to assist low-income earners and complement the efforts of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in championing agricultural reforms to unlock the sector’s full potential.

Represented by Hon. Modi Babayi, the immediate past Councilor of Gombi South, the ADSUBEB Chairman emphasized the numerous benefits of agriculture in improving food security and driving economic prosperity.

“Agriculture is the mainstay of any economy. A society that lacks the initiative to harness the sector’s potential is doomed. Therefore, we must all embrace farming to reap its benefits for ourselves, our state, and the nation,” he stated.

Dr. Babayi commended Governor Fintiri for the recent launch of an agricultural initiative that made 300 hectares of farmland and essential inputs available to farmers, with pilot projects in selected local governments and plans to expand to others.

He urged the beneficiary farmers to make good use of the farm inputs to boost productivity, stressing that the items distributed were of high quality and capable of ensuring a bumper harvest.

In his remarks, the District Head of Guyaku, Alhaji Usman Sarkin Fada, expressed gratitude to Dr. Babayi for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
