The Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB) and the Nigeria Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS) have renewed their partnership to enhance the teaching and learning of Arabic and Islamic Studies across basic schools in the state.
This followed a courtesy visit by the leadership of NATAIS, Adamawa State Chapter, to the ADSUBEB Executive Chairman, Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, at the Board’s headquarters in Yola, on Thursday.
During the visit, the State Chairman of NATAIS, Dr. Aliyu Sa’ad, praised Dr. Babayi’s visionary leadership, describing his reforms in the basic education sector as transformative.
He commended the Board’s deliberate efforts to expand Arabic education in primary and junior secondary schools, noting that the initiative aligns with NATAIS’s goal of strengthening Arabic as a core component of Nigeria’s basic education system.
Dr. Sa’ad highlighted the Association’s ongoing activities and expressed readiness to collaborate with ADSUBEB in teacher capacity building, textbook development, curriculum integration, and other areas that will enrich Arabic and Islamic Studies instruction statewide.
In his response, Dr. Babayi thanked the association for the visit and reaffirmed the Board’s dedication to advancing quality, moral-focused, and inclusive education.
He emphasized that Arabic education contributes significantly to character development and equips learners with lifelong values and skills.
The visit featured an interactive session where both parties exchanged ideas on improving the teaching of Arabic and Islamic Studies and discussed future areas of collaboration. The meeting ended with a group photograph to commemorate the engagement.
