The Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, is currently attending a critical one-day state-level workshop focused on foundational learning and addressing the issue of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

The high-level workshop, organized by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) in collaboration with NewGlobe and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has drawn participants from across the country, including Honourable Commissioners of Education and Executive Chairpersons of State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs). The event serves as a key platform for national dialogue and policy review on urgent challenges in Nigeria’s basic education sector.

Discussions at the workshop are centered on two major areas: improving foundational literacy and numeracy among school-aged children, and tackling the growing number of out-of-school children nationwide. These twin challenges remain at the core of Nigeria’s education development agenda.

Dr. Babayi’s participation underscores Adamawa State’s commitment to strengthening education delivery, improving learning outcomes, and ensuring that every child—regardless of background or circumstance—has access to quality basic education. His presence also signals ADSUBEB’s readiness to align with national education priorities and embrace strategic solutions that can be tailored to local needs.

The workshop is expected to produce actionable outcomes, guiding evidence-based reforms, promoting inter-state collaboration, and generating practical strategies for implementation and scale-up across the federation.

ADSUBEB remains committed to transforming policy conversations into measurable progress for children in Adamawa State. This aligns with the vision of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whose recent honorary doctorate award was a recognition of his exceptional leadership and consistent investment in the education sector.
