The Numan Township Stadium was filled with excitement on Sunday as Adamawa United returned to winning ways, defeating visiting Kebbi United FC 2–0.
The Week Three clash of the 2025/2026 NNL season came with high tension for the home side, who had earlier recorded a goalless draw in Numan on Match Day One and suffered a defeat to Gombe United in Gombe.
Adamawa United, led by defensive stalwart Nanuchi Daniel and supported by Edward Elams, Isa Yusuf, and others, dominated play and kept pressure on the visitors’ half.
Emmanuel Muna broke the deadlock in the 31st minute after a goalmouth scramble. Man of the Match, Edward Elams, doubled the lead in the 85th minute, sealing the victory and putting the game beyond the visitors.
Although Kebbi United made several incursions into the Adamawa United penalty area, goalkeeper Victor stood firm, maintaining a clean sheet.
Since Adamawa United’s return to Numan as their home ground, the team has not lost a match.
Speaking after the game, Technical Adviser of Adamawa United FC, Coach Festus Mure’alewe, attributed the victory to hard work and belief.
“This win comes from dedication and the strong belief that we can do it,” he said. He thanked the management, coaching crew, and players for their effort, adding, “I believe we will carry this winning mentality into all our matches, both home and away.”
Dr. Chidama Yusuf, Secretary of Adamawa United, also congratulated the players and the entire team for their commitment.
“We are very happy with this victory. It has restored confidence in the team,” he said. “Having drawn one and lost one, it is natural for us to feel very happy and to continue with this ‘we can do it’ mindset.”
Efforts to obtain comments from the coach of Kebbi United were unsuccessful, as the team departed immediately after the final whistle.
In a related development, Adamawa Queens kicked off the 2025/2026 Women’s Professional Football League season on Wednesday with a 2–0 victory over Pacesetters of Oyo at the same Numan Township Stadium.
