Adamawa To Upgrade Her Cattle Markets To Improve IGR, Isn’t To Block Livestock Sale, Transport To Lagos

The heading “Adamawa to block livestock sales, transport to Lagos, others,” is a misleading metaphor; a misinformation and disinformation mischievously crafted

  • Upgrading the cattle market to improve cattle business for increased Internally Generated Revenue in Adamawa state is not in anyway suggesting blocking beef business or livestock market in other parts of the country, even though so risky a life-threatening the business has of recent turned out to be.
  • Heading would have been closely approximately to say that ‘Adamawa government to engage in beef business, to reduce security risk and improve IGR.
  • It isn’t brilliant the commercial arrangement that the state provides the fodder while other states milk the cattle; the arrangement must be reviewed

Adamawa state government has only reiterated her commitement to upgrade some of her cattle markets across the state with a view to revamping her revenue base for financial independence and effective execution of developmental projects.

This was made known at the sensitization gathering for proper implementation of the Adamawa Agribusiness support programme held at the Banquet hall of the government house in Yola.

Adamawa state Agribusiness support programme is a project aimed at revamping the economy of the state through agriculture and livestock businesses.

The Government deemed it necessary to raise awareness among traditional rulers and local government chairmen among other critical stakeholders on the project, to enable them further sensitize their subjects at the local levels to embrace the programme geared towards modifying the economy and by extension improving the internally generated revenue of the state

The secretary to the state government, Malam Bashiru Ahmad lamented that the economic base of the state, was not that brilliant as reflected in the low internal revenue base along with the meagre federal allocation that it become difficult for the state government to cater for the developmental needs of the state.

He however, said the present government was poised towards exploring ways of improving the internally generated revenue to enable the state become financially independent. Part of the measures, he revealed, is to upgrade the cattle markets and encourage the engagement into maize, beans, soyabeans among other livestock production to increase the IGR.

The SSG further challenged the traditional leaders among other stakeholders to help government open sensitization with the stakeholders in the market.
