Adamawa To Collaborate With Taraba On Improved Peace Building Efforts – Gov Fintiri

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed commitment to collaborate Taraba state government on improved peace building efforts with a view adding value on the lives of the people of the two states.

Governor Fintiri stated this at the opening ceremony of the long aged Nwonyo Fishing Festival in Taraba state on Friday.

The festival was started in 1903 and has over the years preserved tradition and promotes conservation of the national heritage of the people holding in Ibi local government area of Taraba state.

The annual 2-day festival mark’s the start of the fishing season beginning with water sport display, masquerade dances, traditional entertainment and ends with spectacular fishing competition on a second day.

Governor Umaru Fintiri at the event lauded Governor kefas Agbu for a renewed effort in conservation and preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the people of Taraba state.

Fintiri therefore commended Jukun nation for its peace enterprise calling on the people to sustain the dynamism of Nwonyo festival and continue supporting the Agbu kefas led administration for the overall good of the state.

Speaking, Governor kefas said the event is to revive ‘Nwonyo Festival’ the ancestoral heritage of the people that have a very long standing history.

The Governor reassured his commitment of ensuring functional development in the critical sectors, unity and peaceful enterprise in the state that will attract more investment from all quotas.

An elder statesman, retired Gen. TY Danjuma described the event as delightful, going by the courage and enthusiasm spirit shown by the people at the festival

He challenged leaders to ensure the security of lives and property of the people through a renewed commitment to embracing diversity, peace building and mutual respect.
