The Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), Dr. Umar Babayi, has received an Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to educational development across the state.
The award was presented during an alumni event held at Yelwa Primary School, Jimeta, in Yola North Local Government Area on Saturday.
Represented by Board Member II, Dr. Aliyu Sa’ad, Dr. Babayi commended the teachers for organizing the event and made a personal donation of N50,000 in support of their efforts.
In his remarks, Dr. Babayi reaffirmed the commitment of the Fintiri-led administration to revamping the education sector through the provision of infrastructure, modern learning facilities, and improved welfare for teachers.
He dedicated the award to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and expressed appreciation to the teachers for acknowledging his contributions.
He assured them that the recognition would further motivate him to intensify efforts toward the advancement of basic education in the state.
Dr. Babayi also urged teachers across Adamawa to reciprocate the government’s efforts by demonstrating dedication to their duties and ensuring the delivery of quality education to children for the overall benefit of the state.
During the event, the Member representing Yola North in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Suleiman Alkali, along with several alumni of the school, pledged to sponsor the education of five outstanding students up to the university level.
In a related development, the Executive Chairman of Yola North LGA, Hon. Jibril Jimeta, pledged to install solar power at the school and deploy two security personnel to safeguard its infrastructure.
