A new code of conduct to formally recognise and prescribed the rules, values and practices governing the conduct and behaviour of the Adamawa state traditional rulers and institutions has been unveiled.
The code was developed by the ministry of local government and chieftaincy Affairs in collaboration with council of emirs and chiefs with support from European EU and British Council.
The code of conduct comprise the brief history of the Emirates in Adamawa, values, qualities, duties of traditional rulers and their rules as well as dress code.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state at the event held in the Conference Hall Government House Yola, said the stressed that royal fathers are architect of peace enterprise.
The Governor represented by Japhet Gajere, permanent secretary Ministry of Local Government Affairs assured that the content of the code of conduct will be Implemented.
In her remarks, Ambassador of European Union, Samuela Isopi observed that the document will among other things promote peace and reconciliation in Adamawa.
The Ambassador hoped that the document will be Implemented to the fullest and asked the traditional rulers to provide framework for community engagements.
Contributing, the National Programme Manager of Managing Conflict in Nigeria (MCN), Professor Muhammad Tabiu said it is the first time such a document was developed.
He said the MCN has engaged and trained seven hundred raditional rulers on mediation and conflict management and has worked on issues of reconciliation between farmers and herders in the state.
Earlier in his welcome address, Lamido Adamawa Doctor Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa represented by the emir of Mubi Alhaji Abubakar Isa Ahmadu pledged to utilize contents of the document.
In their separate goodwill messages, other seven first class emirs and chiefs, appreciate EU for cooperating with Nigeria in managing conflict and vowed that traditional rulers will complement their efforts.
