The Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programme ADAS-P has engaged Michika, Mubi South and Lamurde communities as part of its preparations to kick start the 2024 Adamawa Sustainable Dry Season Agribusiness Project aimed at complementing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s efforts to ensuring food security in the.
In Girei, the leader of the delegation and administrative secretary ADAS-P implementation committee, Mrs Joy Tarfa, said the programme will not only boost food production and security but will also provide enabling environment for investors from within and outside the country.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman Girei local area council Hon. Adamu Umar Dallatu who commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for bringing people’s oriented programmes, appreciates ADAS-P for a wonderful job and reaffirms commitment for collaboration and support at all times.
Contributing, the acting head of component three ADAS-P, Mr Praise Dauda, said the aim of the community engagements is identification of community irrigation sites, cluster formation, suitability analysis, farmers database establishment, development of digital farmer identify numbers and formation of community development associations within the local government area.
In Lamurde, ADAS Programme’s team leader Dr. Tasi’u Idi, who is the head of component one, enjoined genuine farmers to key into the programme.
In the same vein, another delegation led by Mr. James Birdling, the head of component two ADAS-P, storms Mubi South and Michika local government areas where he restated commitment of the Programme to commercialize agriculture in the state, adding however that only genuine farmers will be captured.
On their parts, the NIRSAL Microfinance Bank’s representatives across the three senatorial districts, emphasize that those who owe the bank will not be captured for the programme.
For the actualization of the project, ADAS-P engages office of the state Surveyor General, NIRSAL MFB, District Scribes/Heads, Directors agric and natural resources among stakeholders.
