Adamawa Has Changed: “Who Dey Breathe”

By Foya Puja

I cannot keep still. My head alone will not wrap around these luxurious relief from the disarray we witnessed in the past that left us cold, overwhelmed and almost hopeless.

I recalled early 2019 when some people who knew less about development and governance concluded on Social Media board of examinations on how Adamawa can change, where is the resources? What about the huge debt burden? Who will even accept to invest in Adamawa? Bla bla bla.

Suddenly appears the Fresh Air Governor, who understands the nitty griity of leadership. He who believes development is not optional but sacrosanct.

It is true that many of us may not realize or may not have taken time to ponder over the last 34 months; coming from where we were. Coming from a State that witnessed several transitional governments and going through uncommon, peculiar and historic events that have confronted our dear State during these periods. How Adamawa changed remains the biggest mystery. What many saw as a joke is now a reality.

It could only take a focused, sincere, committed, dedicated, experienced and steady hands with integrity at the helms for us to navigate the stormy waters that have characterized this period and remain standing to the Glory of God.

Today, we bear true and unbiased testimony to the uncommon, patriotic, exemplary and experienced leadership that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has shown and offered which has helped to keep Adamawa afloat, inspite of the monumental challenges [inherited, new and evolving] and the sheer unpredictability that have characterized these past few years.

He clearly demonstrates what is possible to those who believed that public service can be done honestly, diligently with the welfare of the people being the primary focus.

Our pains of yesterday have birth the gains of today, our struggles, prayers, sacrifices and labor are not in vain.

Just the way God promised to bless the children of Israel and take them from bondage, suffering and slavery into a restful place, the Promised Land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

By the hand of Joshua, God brought His promise to pass. He transformed Israel from a wandering horde in to an established land. The people saw Jordan like an insurmountable obstacle. But to God, it represented a decisive turning point. They got to Jordan and as their feet touched the water, the Jordan was separated and they walked on dry land all across the Jordan.

We are now inside the new city, the promise land, the new Adamawa full of pleasant fruits for our families, friends and all of us.

The fruits of peace, free and compulsory education, free WAEC and NECO, Scholarships, Employments, Empowerments, adequate Healthcare, Secured environment for businesses, 2000 housing units, first ever flyover and grade interchange, urban and rural beatifications, Agribusiness, civil service reform, prompt payment of salaries/pensions/gratuities, free and fair local government council elections among others.

We have a plethora of reasons to take a deep breath of fresh air as a sign of relief with the Governor’s avowed pledge of ensuring that “No one is left behind and nothing is left untouched”.

His growing national physique as a master planner and liberal leader has grown in leaps and bounds.

Our rational lethargy should not deprive us the opportunity to rally round in support of the Fresh Air Governor to continue this commensurate investment for our collective development.

To avoid going back to reeling under the weight of an intolerably humiliating existential depression and allegorically forced to hold cream on our hands while our faces are dry, we should re-elect Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for another four years.
