The Adamawa State Government has called on citizens to continue supporting efforts aimed at fostering unity and mutual understanding among the diverse ethnic groups in the state.

The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Aloysius Babadoke, made the call during a road walk held in Yola on Saturday to commemorate the 2025 World Tourism Day.

The colourful walk, which featured various cultural groups, commenced at Capital School and terminated at the Adamawa Unity Flyover.

Speaking at the destination point, Mr. Babadoke said the event was organized to celebrate the developmental strides of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and to highlight the state’s rich cultural heritage.

He explained that this year’s theme, “Sustainable Transformation,” aligns with the Fintiri administration’s transformation agenda and reflects its commitment to promoting tourism, unity, and development across Adamawa.

According to the commissioner, although World Tourism Day is globally marked on September 27, this year’s celebration in Adamawa was extended to October 4 to allow for better coordination after previous editions were successfully held in Sukur Kingdom, Madagali, and Kiri, Shelleng Local Government Areas.

Also speaking, the President General of the Igbo Cultural Association in Adamawa State, Chief Emmanuel Nwabueze Aneke, commended Governor Fintiri for creating an enabling environment for businesses and cultural coexistence.

He urged residents to continue upholding the spirit of unity and peaceful coexistence that defines the state.

It will be recalled that the Fintiri-led administration recently approved N5.1 billion for the construction of the Adamawa Modern Amusement Park, a landmark project aimed at revitalizing tourism and boosting socio-economic activities in the state.
