Adamawa Govt Achieves 80% Budget Implementation, Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage for LG Workers

The Adamawa State Government has achieved 80% implementation of the 2024 budget, effectively closing the fiscal year with a strong performance in budget appropriation.

Similarly, the government has approved the implementation of the N70,000 national minimum wage for local government workers across the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, disclosed this after the State Executive Council meeting held in the Council Chambers, Government House, Yola.

The eighth 2024 council meeting, chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, conducted a final review of the 2024 appropriation and recorded a significant milestone in performance compared to 56% in 2023.

In their separate remarks, the Commissioners for Finance and Budget, Mrs. Augustina Wandamiya and Mr. Emanuel Pridimso, explained that the budget review was aimed at identifying areas with surpluses and closing balances for the 2024 fiscal year.

According to Mr. Pridimso, “We considered and reviewed the budget by looking at areas where MDAs incurred expenses and identified sectors with surpluses to close the 2024 budget effectively.”

They added that the state has maintained discipline in budget implementation, promoting transparency and prudence, which have contributed to its excellent performance in developmental initiatives.
