The Adamawa State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning has organized a town hall meeting to engage stakeholders from the central zone of the state in the preparation of the 2026 budget.

The meeting, held at the Board of Internal Revenue office in Yola, brought together budget directors and representatives from Yola North, Yola South, Girei, and Fufore Local Government Areas.

Although the event was focused on the central zone, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Emmanuel Pridimso, noted that similar meetings would be held across other zones to ensure inclusive participation from all 21 local government areas in the state.

In his opening remarks, Pridimso said the aim of the town hall meetings is to ensure that the state’s budget is people-oriented and reflective of the citizens’ real needs.

“This approach aligns with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s vision of participatory governance since he assumed office in 2019,” he stated.

The commissioner commended Governor Fintiri for the effective implementation of previous budgets, which he said had significantly contributed to the state’s development. He added that despite ongoing economic challenges, both locally and globally, the government remains committed to delivering essential services through transparency, accountability, and teamwork.

He encouraged participants to actively contribute by suggesting priority areas for the 2026 budget such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure, clean water, and community development projects.

Speaking to journalists, the Director of Budget for Yola South and Chairman of Budget Directors in the state, Salihu Danjuma Usman, reiterated that the consultative process was initiated by the governor to deepen grassroots participation in governance.

He emphasized that the inclusion of local government input would enhance the quality of public service delivery and budget implementation going forward.

The meeting was attended by budget directors, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders from the central zone.
