Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has received an Award of Excellence from the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) in recognition of her dynamic leadership and commitment to community and human development.
The award was presented during a grand civic reception held in honour of the 16th National President of NCWS, Princess Edna Azura. The event, organized by the Adamawa State chapter of NCWS, took place at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Yola, celebrating outstanding achievements and leadership.
The ceremony featured the unveiling of the maiden edition of the NCWS Adamawa State branch magazine and the presentation of awards to distinguished personalities. Among the honorees were the wife of the Governor, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, and the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, alongside other notable individuals, all recognized for their exceptional contributions to women’s advancement, good governance, and community development.
Chairperson of the occasion, Professor Fatima Joda, highlighted the role of NCWS as the umbrella body for women groups across Nigeria, emphasizing its mission to promote women’s interests and contribute to national development. She congratulated the award recipients and prayed for continued wisdom and strength in their service.
Also speaking, the Adamawa State President of NCWS, Hogla Agiso, reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to addressing political, economic, and social challenges facing women, and called for increased participation in decision-making processes.
The event also featured an inspection of exhibitions led by the Deputy Governor, and the formal decoration of NCWS patrons from various local government areas.
