The Adamawa State Executive Council, at its 18th meeting for 2025 presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved a supplementary budget of N135 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.

The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya, disclosed this while briefing journalists shortly after the meeting held in the Council Chambers of the Government House, Yola.

He explained that the new approval has raised the state’s total budget size from N486.2 billion to N621.2 billion, adding that the council also approved N14.9 billion for the reconstruction of the 24km Mubi–Maiha road, a project expected to be completed within 15 months.

In addition, the council according to the commissioner, approved N1.2 billion as counterpart funds for the 2025 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS) implementation in the state.

Commissioner of Budget, Mr. Emmanuel Pridimso, said the supplementary budget became necessary following additional revenue recorded by the state government, which will enable it to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones.

On his part, the Commissioner of Works and Energy, Hon. Adamu Atiku, revealed that the Mubi–Maiha road project was awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria.

He noted that although the road is a federal project, the state government considered it necessary to intervene the suffering of its citizens, recalling that the road was last constructed and abandoned in 2002.

Also speaking, the State Focal Person on SDGs, Muhammad Alfa Raji, emphasized that counterpart funding will enhance development in the state.

He called on the federal government to release its own share of funds to ensure the successful implementation of the developmental projects.
