The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved N1.3b contract variation for the design and construction of grade interchange and underpass at police roundabout in Yola.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Doctor Umar Garba Pella disclosed this to newsmen shortly after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Government House, Yola.
Doctor Pella said the initial contract sum of the project awarded in July 2020 was N5.8b out of which government has paid the contractor N4.5b and the work has reached 90% completion.
He revealed reasons among which the variation was approved to include high cost of building materials, installation of CCTV cameras, high cost of compensation, wire fencing to prevent vandalization among others.
The Commissioner further said the council had also during its sitting approved hosting of the 44th National Council On Establishment by Adamawa State in the 4th quarter of 2022.
Contributing, the Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar who noted with satisfaction the quality of the work said with the variation approved, the project will be completed in the next two months.
