The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of two prominent Northern Nigerian leaders: Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami, the Emir of Zuru, and Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim, a renowned businessman and politician.
In a statement signed by Prof. Tukur A Muhammad-Baba, National Publicity Secretary of ACF, the organization prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the two deceased leaders and extended condolences to their families, friends, and well-wishers.
Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami, aged 81, was a distinguished military officer and traditional ruler who served as the Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State.
He had a remarkable military career, joining the Nigerian Army in 1962 and serving in various capacities, including Commandant of the Brigade of Guards and Military Governor of Bauchi State. After retiring from military service, he became the Emir of Zuru, a position he held with great distinction until his passing.
The Emir’s death has been met with an outpouring of tributes and condolences from across the country, with many describing him as a symbol of unity, peace, and development. The Kebbi State Government has extended its heartfelt condolences to the Emir’s family, the Zuru Emirate Council, and the people of Kebbi State.
Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim, aged 89, was a respected businessman, politician, and philanthropist who made significant contributions to the development of Northern Nigeria.
He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and later the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), and was known for his unwavering commitment to the development of the region. He was also an avid promoter of sports at the local and national levels.
The ACF described the late Emir and Alhaji Ibrahim as illustrious sons of Northern Nigeria who had distinguished themselves in service to the nation, the region, and their communities.
The late Emir of Zuru and Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim left behind legacies that will continue to inspire future generations. Their contributions to the development of Northern Nigeria and their commitment to public service will be remembered for years to come. May their souls rest in eternal peace.
