Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to enhance power supply across Adamawa State.
The governor made the pledge while receiving members of the YEDC Board of Directors, led by the Chairman, Sheun Naida, during a working visit to Yola.
Governor Fintiri said the state government is intensifying efforts to strengthen the electricity network, adding that consumers are expected to pay for the services they use to ensure a sustainable power sector.
He commended the YEDC board for its commitment to stabilizing electricity supply, describing their performance as impressive.
The governor further assured that his administration will continue to support initiatives that create a better operating environment for power distribution companies in the state.
In his remarks, YEDC Chairman, Sheun Naida, said the company has embarked on a major rehabilitation project aimed at stabilizing power supply within Yola and other franchise areas.
He expressed appreciation to the Adamawa State Government for its continuous support and noted that Yola serves as the operational hub of YEDC, covering Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, and Yobe States.
Naida revealed that the company plans to invest over N11 billion in the rehabilitation of the Yola power network through a 33KV project.
He also announced plans to establish a local pole manufacturing factory in Adamawa State, adding that the initiative will improve electricity distribution, create jobs, and boost economic growth across the region.
