JED Bauchi Launches Tree Planting Drive To Tackle Climate Change

By Sani Adamu Hassan

As climate change continues to threaten environmental balance, the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), Bauchi State Branch, has embarked on a tree planting exercise aimed at reducing its impact and promoting greener communities.

The exercise, held at Kobi Primary School in Bauchi, formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Speaking during the event, the State Operating Officer of JED, Dr. Abubakar Ibrahim Danbatta, said the company decided to plant trees and distribute writing materials to pupils as a way of giving back to society and creating awareness about environmental conservation.

Dr. Danbatta explained that tree planting remains one of the most effective ways to combat the effects of climate change, including desertification, flooding, and rising temperatures. He emphasized that involving school children in such activities would help them understand their role in protecting the environment from an early age.

He also highlighted that JED has been implementing several community-oriented projects such as safety awareness campaigns and stakeholder engagements, all aimed at building a safer and more sustainable society.

On his part, the Headmaster of Kobi Primary School, Garba Baffa Turaki, commended JED for its contribution to environmental protection and pledged that the school would nurture the trees to maturity for the benefit of future generations.
